GATHRE MATS (Nicole Barton)

When I first became a mother I found myself in constant frustration at the lack of neutral or adult friendly aesthetic when it came to baby items. Desperate to not have my living room look like a looney tunes ad, I found myself drawn to european designers, focusing on natural fabrics and soothing colors. Although these items came at a cost, and that limited my ability in what I decided to buy and not to buy.

Over the years since having my first, I have heard this complaint often, and while I tend to agree for the most part, the market towards aesthetically pleasing family items have grown immensely. No longer are the days where you're limited to Winnie the Pooh and neon rainbow light up toys, and welcome are the soft palettes and pleasing textures. Starts ups are growing, the modern mothers are responding, the compromise is all but lost to valuing something more beautiful for you to tote around.

With my littles being a little too old for those types of toys, and no real need to consume more, I found myself in awe of the beautiful things the women around me were using for their babies, which brings me to my first introduction with GATHRE.

GATHRE is a new company that is focused on the family moments you create, be it at home, or out and about. GATHRE is a beautiful company, started by a lovely trio of people who want share the joy of not compromising aesthetic or quality during your play time. GATHRE is everything I had hoped for when I first entered motherhood, smart, pretty, multifunctional, timeless.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of spending time with my sweet friend Savannah, who's littlest Bijou was just perfect for the MICRO MAT. We started talking about the quality of the product itself and began brainstorming things we could do with it for the olders as well.

"Play dough would be perfect - or sensory play in general, because it would clean right up!", I had mentioned. She suggested a few as well, like a placemat, a coloring barrier to protect your table, a floor mat for a local parade.

GATHRE is a multi-functional, highly versatile company. Their mats come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors, and for those design loving women out there who happen to be mothers, I think this product is definitely something you'll want to have too.
